The Music page is up! It's good! If you've got a band you want me to consider for it, drop me an email and let me know. I'm always ready for new music.
I've also added more shopping links (ooooo....caaaaanndyyyy!), and you'll find that occasionally I'll have Amazon.com Recommends links here on the main page. Hey, if I can read and love a book enough to recommend it here, why shouldn't I make it really easy for you to obtain it?
I have newfound inspiration to practice more often, thanks to my lovely guitar teacher Andy Toomey (whose wacky U2 Tribute Band madness can be viewed here. He's actually made me feel like some progress has been made, and has let me know that I'm nowhere near as hopeless at this bass guitar thing than I thought I was. Phew! Still, I'm working on trying to be better, so we can really get That Bitch Crickett up and running. Groupies, here we come!
Hey, if you're a cosmetic addict like I am, you might wanna check out Makeup Alley. It's got a messageboard that's devoted to beauty products (makeup and skincare) as well as a great reviews section and a swap program with which I've been having loads of fun. Sending out 2 swap packages today, matter of fact! WOOHOO!
Another nifty board to check out, if you've read "The Bad Girl's Guide To The Open Road" and/or "The Bad Girl's Guide To Getting What You Want" is the Bad Girl Swirl. Both books were written by Cameron Tuttle with illustrations by Susannah Bettag, and they're awesome. If you haven't read them, well, that's why I've got that Amazon Recommends linky right downt there. These books had me howling out loud on the subway. People gave me funny looks. I didn't care. The site was also created by Cameron, and has numerous message boards for all you Bad Girls, Bad Girls In Training, and some Bad Boys too. I love this community and was away from it for far too long. It's nice to be back there, chillin' in the Swirl.
The hair is still bright, but I've found that the fade-down colour is more of a pinky-orange. Interesting. Anyway, I've got some fierce regrowth, so it'll be time to recolour again soon. Perhaps this time I'll go with all fuschia. Hmmmm.
Blisswas fabulous, as always. I am now smoooooth, and have made 3 more converts to the near religion that is Bliss. Between creating converts and sending out samples of Bliss products in my swap packages, one would think that I worked for them. But I don't. I'm not paid by them in any way except the lovely mellow feeling I have every time I leave there. We also had a lovely dinner at my favourite little "hip" restaurant, and discovered an adorable Russian cafe. It was a cold day, and my poor butt was too cold from the walking around, but we also went to see what we could of Ground Zero. Emotional, yes. Necessary, yes. It's tough for some people (including me) to wrap our heads around the whole thing, even after all the TV coverage, radio coverage, memorial services, and everyone's friends' stories. We didn't get to go to the viewing platform (we were there after it closed), but we checked out all of the things people have left there in memoriam, and then walked around to Church Street and were able to see a little better. I don't think I really wanted to go up to the platform, honestly, but seeing the gaping hole and the damaged facades of the buildings in the perimeter were enough to really make it REAL for me. It was gut-wrenching, but it needed to be done.
There's the possibility of another karaoke contest in the immediate future. I'll let you know how things turn out. Grand prize is $1500 (handy, no?), but it's gonna be a few more weeks until we get to that point. Who knows if I'll even make it to the quarter finals? Either way, I gotta get going. I have post office errands to run, horrible Hallmark Holiday cards to purchase, and I must prepare for a week-end with The Children of DOOOOOM! (Get ready to practice that bass, Sammmy-girl.) Have a lovely Valentine's Day (if you celebrate that sort of thing...), and I'll see you soon!
